Signs of Dystopia It was the opportunity to visit a traditional tribal culture that started me wondering about my own culture. By my own, I don’t mean my English Welsh heritage but more the monoculture of blue jeans, TVs and cars that has spread across the globe. The more I looked with my camera, the more it seemed that we live on a treadmill with the speed set too high and no way to get off. Having witnessed a simpler life, progress didn’t look like progress anymore. Disturbed by the way our current system prioritizes profit over people, I made this work at the turn of the millenium while the last great bull market was still running wild.
